The Career Sweet Spot is the career that you are great at and love doing, and is in demand.

Like many models, the Career Sweet Spot model is compelling but only tells half the story. The venn diagram shows that you need all three factors to be present, but it obscures why, and how the factors interact.

Let’s use a Randow Map to clarify how the Sweet Spot Model works.

This map shows that using their World class abilities, the employee works, generating a Contribution that the Employer uses to generate Benefit for themselves. They value that Contribution so much that they reward the Employee with Pay and benefits. As a side effect of working, the employee also gets Fun, meaning and connection.

This highlights an important factor missing from the Venn diagram: the employee’s contribution.
